Some things to expect when attending our Sunday morning celebration service.
Fitting In: We want you to feel comfortable, so modest clothing is just fine. After all, we are thrilled that you are joining us and want you to be more focused on the service than what you are wearing. You can sit anywhere you like. Our people are not worrisome about where they sit on a given Sunday. You won’t be in “somebody’s seat”.
Worship: Worshiping God through music is a very important part of our service, so expect passionate worship. We encourage you to leave your seat and join us up front as we worship together.
Children’s Church: We believe our children are capable of being fed the Word and taught to affect their community with the Kingdom of God that is alive in them. All parents sign in their children into class right after praise and worship is over.
Children ages 5-11 years old will be signed in by their parents into trailer #3. There, they will briefly pray, give testimonies, be introduced to the lesson and split into groups. These groups will be mixed age groups. They will rotate through three stations: Bible, Games and Art. Each station leader will repeat the ten minute lesson for each rotation with a new set of kids. Then we will gather back together for a snack, then assemble in trailer #3 once again for a review, and be given a Mission sheet to take home with them that will be a review of what they are learning.
Toddlers ages 2 (potty trained only)- 4 years old will be signed in by their parents in trailer #1. This age group will also follow the same lesson as the older children with a few small changes to make it age appropriate.
Nursery ages newborn – 2 years old (not potty trained) will be signed in by their parents in our nursery room located in the back of the sanctuary hallway, next to the ladies room.
We ask that parents please pick up and sign out your children at 12:00 PM. If you have any questions, please ask to speak with Karen Ramalho, our Children’s Church director.
The Offering: We appreciate very much that you will be with us at service and do not want you to feel obligated to participate in the offering. The Apostle Paul said it best when he wrote to his friends in Corinth, “Each person should do as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or out of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver.” Also, so that you know our heart, we want to share our Giving Philosophy. Since its inception, WOCIC has set aside 10% of all its contributions in a First Fruits fund that is used to assist other ministries and individuals in need. In early 2014, we felt challenged by the Holy Spirit to be more extravagant in our giving. Since then, we have increased our allocation from 10% to 20%. Our Financial Advisory Team meets monthly to review church financials and giving opportunities. Not only does this team serve as an accountability control, but is helping develop a culture of generosity. As Acts 20:35 records … “In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Sharing A Word With The Congregation: We believe in the importance of ‘body ministry’ where individuals minister to each other. At times, a person may share a word of encouragement with the congregation during our worship service. If you feel you have a word to share, please see Pastor Vin for approval. This helps maintain the flow of the worship as well as the order of the service.
Facilities: Our rest rooms and nursing room are located in the rear of the sanctuary. The nursing room has a changing table for babies.
Mobile Phones: We understand that many people use their phones to access the Bible while following along with the message. We just ask that you set your phone to ‘vibrate’ so that it does not ring during the service.
